Still Looking for Your Perfect Spotted DIY?
Suze here, from Miss Vinyl Ahoy. By now, we all know the next EBEW is polka dots. Awesome for someone like me with a closet full, right? What about those of you that want to participate, but don't own anything polka dotted? Rather than run out and buy something new, let's remake something you already own! Find a pair of cute, seldom worn shoes that you won't mind making over.

If you have fabric paint, great! If not, acrylic paint will suffice, but it won't last forever.

If you're willing to purchase fabric paint, you can get some for less than $2. You'll also need a brush of some kind, or you can go old school lazy-style like me and use a pencil eraser. So, recapping your list of needs: shoes fabric paint round sponge brush or pencil eraser The easiest way to do this is to open the fabric paint (mine had a screw-off flip-top) and use the paint that way. I made a test dot on the underside of the shoe, where no one would see.

Once you've figured out the consistency of how much/little paint you want to see per dot, start dotting on the shoe itself. You can choose to do a pattern, random or whatever you choose! I went with a random pattern in red, and touched up a few areas and added some pink.

It's a very quick, very cheap, and easy way to create something with polka dots. But, sadly for me, these shoes aren't my size :( So, I guess someone that wears a size 9 needs to claim them. Any takers? :)
